Get To Know The Riley Family Farms Family

WELCOME TO THE RILEY FAMILY FARMS BLOG

Welcome! Here at Riley Family Farms we understand the value of sustainable local food, and we are we are excited to launch this new space as another way to serve and better get to know our neighbors in the midsouth. If you are new to RFF, we are a local regenerative farm providing pasture raised poultry to our community in North Mississippi and the Memphis, Tennessee area. There is always a lot going on at Riley Family Farms and in this space you can expect to find it all: RFF farm updates, insight into our practices, and product announcements as well as lots of fun content and opportunities to get to know the people and animals who make us who we are. I am Ellen Frederick but I am only one part of the team at RFF- made up of many other Rileys and Fredericks who will be introduced along the way including my parents, husband, siblings and children!

The Riley family has been farming in the midsouth for 100 years and my children are the sixth generation to carry on the legacy started by my great-great grandfather. Today we seek to employ the best practices from chick to freezer to ensure our poultry is raised with respect for the creature, the land, and the final consumer. In addition to our commitment to keeping our chicken free of antibiotics, MRNAs, and all harmful additives, we source 100% non-GMO feed and follow regenerative practices, raising our birds in mobile shelters with daily movement to fresh pasture to promote both the health and well-being of the poultry and the quality, flavor, and wholesomeness of the final product. Pasture raised chicken is more nutrient dense, more sustainable, and more delicious than any chicken you can find at the supermarket. Don't take my word for it- taste the difference yourself by shopping at our online store today!

RAISING FOOD AND RAISING FAMILIES

Integrated into our day job raising chicken and poultry for our Mississippi and Tennessee neighbors, we seek to live off the land and grow as much of what our family eats as possible on our homestead in Marshall County, MS. On any given day you may find Caleb in the abattoir processing chicken while Josiah tends chicks in the brooder, Les harvests produce from the garden, I (Ellen) am in the barn milking Bessie, and Christy is in the kitchen utilizing the chicken, vegetables, and raw milk to make a pot pie to share for dinner- and several us probably have a small gang of little ones underfoot, learning skills that we know will serve them their whole lives. We are growing food and we are growing children, embracing through the changing seasons the challenges and rewards, joys and difficulties that each bring.
